Right this second I am sitting in the Hammersmith Apollo (nee Hammersmith Odeon) in the interval of the Concert For Killing Cancer - benefit show. In the first half we just had Richard Ashcroft, Roger Daltrey and Brian Adams. Coming up next, Debbie Harry, Jeff Beck and The Who.

Well, you know how it is: we'd got our interval drinks from the bar, received some text messages, done some emails - and they still hadn't finished setting up for the second half. How to pass the minutes? I know: let's look at the Forum...

Home now, pics downloaded. Tickets bought in a rush for a charity gig, so not our usual front seats. These are taken from a bit far away on a small camera, so excuse the quality. But anyhow...

Something I never expected to see was Debbie Harry doing Heart of Glass with The Who's backing band and Jeff Beck taking a (nice!) solo in the middle. Weird - but neat! Guys of exactly my age have a special place in their hearts for Debbie...:



The main reason for going: The Who. In their 60s and still better than any other band on the planet:



Sometimes on this Forum we play "fantasy band line-up". Here's one I never thought of: The Who plus Jeff Beck on guitar and Brian Adams and Debbie Harry on backing vocals. Hmmm. Stranger things happen at sea - I expect...:



BTW: can anyone tell me what those triangular speaker cabs of Simon Townshend's are (behind Daltrey's head)? Man, those are horrible!
