So here's my situation: I sent in my amp the beginning of December because of some issue I had with it (you can check out my "Disaster!" thread on the Vintage Amps page). Last week I finally got it back and it sounded pretty good, but guess what?

The Tremelo system doesn't work on it now (and yes, it did before I sent it in, even while it was in the amp wasn't up and running). So I was going to send it back so he can fix it again.

Later today, however, I noticed it was experiencing some of the same problems before I sent it in the first time: breaking up at lower volumes, a wierd sound coming out of it on the end of notes, and a huge hum when nothing is connected to it.

This is why I'm angry: I waited about four weeks for the amp to be repair, just for the guy to tell me that it just "needed to be clean and some connections fixed." It costs me about 100 dollars to fix overall. I'm pissed since I feel like he didn't solve the problem, only provided a temporary fix... I really don't want to send it back to him, since he's claiming he didn't do anything to the tremelo unit, he doesn't have the best reputation0 and I don't want to wait another 3-4 weeks just to have it for a week until it acts up again. Anyways I would still have to pay him for the "original fix."

First thing I'll do is show my boss my amp, maybe he can talk the guy straight into really fixing up the amp...

I'm probably going to end up taking it to another repairmen, but thats going to be a whole seperate charge.

God, I'm so mad right now... :x

I feel your pain, I've been there and it sucks. Try to find a reputable repairman and go to him, getting the amp fixed is what will make you feel better in the end.

Smokey I know a very good guy over here in Rock Hill if you can't find someone better locally. He rebuilt my old Sound City and did a great job. He's a Fender and Peavey warranty man as well.

tdanb2003 I might have to take you up on that offer. I took her back today to the store (I don't have to pay until its really fixed) but when I get it back I DEFINITLY need to take it somewhere else.

Does he do repair work on the side? or as his job? Do you have his contact information?

I was thinking about taking up to boiling springs to the shop where I bought it at, let them have a look at it too.

not sure if Wilmington NC is too far from you but there's a guy here in town who is a whiz with amps and who I would have no hesitation to have work on it. Might want to give him a call if the distance isn't an issue. Mark is a nice guy, but more importantly he is can fix the amp and do it right the first time. He came highly recommended to my by all the luthiers in my area when I needed to talk amps.
