What a difference 50 years makes. OSHA would have fits if they walked in that shop today. Guys with no shirts on, only one pair of protective googles to be seen anywhere, and the guy is wearing them on top of his head. lol Not even a respirator for the painter. Simpler times.

One could probably build a guitar like that today (with the exception of proper safety gear etc.) but it would cost 10X or more the price of a standard guitar and probably not be any better quality or sound. However, because no 2 would ever be exactly the same due to all the hand carving and sanding, I reckon each individual unit would have its own soul and quirks.

Very interesting video. I enjoyed watching it. Probably the best 7 minutes I'll spend today (just don't tell my boss I was watching a video of guitars being built in 1959 while on his dime )

I love the way that employee cuts the angled headstock. Also like how the bodies are cut with a band saw instead of one of those computerized machines. No wonder sometimes you got a great guitar and sometimes not so much.
