When i first started playing back in '99 when i was a wee tyke, i wanted a stratocaster. Why? Because i saw hendrix playing it at woodstock. Fast forward some odd years, I got a Silvertone strat when i was about 13. Played that sucker up and down, trying to get a good grip on the neck and trying to keep it balanced on my knee (as you can tell it was a right handed but i flipped it). But by that point my playing progressed significantly, then I saw an Eric Clapton concert on tv. He was playing a sunburst Stratocaster. And thats the guitar i wanted. By christmas i got the left handed sunburst strat that i now own and on that christmas i cried because i was sooooo happy i got that strat.

So my thing to everyone is what's so wrong about that? Whats wrong if i wanted a fender because eric clapton plays it? Its no different than someone buying proactive because it helped get rid of Jessica Simpsons acne, or buying a pair of sneakers because Michael Jordan wears them? They're what some consider to be their idols. Clapton is my idol. Granted i dont want to be exactly like him. But in some ways I do. So i ask what's wrong with buying a guitar because Clapton or Page or Hendrix plays that specific brand? Think of it as that artist just inspired that kid to get off Guitar Hero or Rock Band and play an actual Fender or Gibson. But that's just my 2 cents
