updating the artist pages? Was just having a look for the first time in ages and John 5 apparently has only one solo album according to fender and Jim Root hasn't apparently released his latest album yet with stone sour even though it came out last september.
Surely if they are going to endorse people they should keep theeir profiles and fans up to date.
Just a thought.

I am sure the they would entertain any and all applications for volunteers who have the time to do this....

I hope I don't sound snarky but...who cares. I play Fender because their guitars and amps are first class to me. I would play them even if no one famous did. I think that Fender is trying to do so many upgrades to the website that the artist page is not the top priority...JMO.

The accuracy of the info on the John 5 of Jim Root artist pages is the least of my concerns regarding Fender and it's products. I've never even listened to a single song by either of them, but that is just my opinion and personal POV.

Oh no, Airborne, don't try to tell the truth of things, it shatters the illusion that if you buy that artist guitar, amp and all them there pedals you will sound just like they do.

Well, I'm influenced by the equipment that my guitar heroes use(d). Its a weakness, I know.

Well, don't get too caught up in it. Artists typically have totally customized or even ghostbuilt equipment...what you see isn't what they play at all...

I think it kind of neat to keep up on our "Idols" But like ABS, I buy them because I want them, not because somebody endorses them

All Fender have to do to fulfill their side of the bargain is feature the 'Artiste' and give em free stuff.

I think you'll find it's the Artist/Artist Managment responsibility to promote the Artist and their works. So if they don't do that, how are Fender meant to know? Should they constantly research their endorsees to see if they have new material out. Or should the artist play the stuff, have it noted on their releases and generaly be seen with the product.

There's 2 artists that Fender are indebted to. The two that sell the most and are seen playing Fender products by the most people. Eric Clapton and as much as I hate to say it, John Mayer.
All the other endorsees, Fender are doing em a favour.

Just ask yourself who's bigger? XXXXXXXX or Fender.

Yep even Jeff Beck and Malmsteen. Much as I love Beck'ola. Them guys only really sell to guitarists, who already know who Fender are and attract little in the way of 'new to guitar' customers.

I didnt say buying the artists equipment makes you sound like them and I don't want to, I would rather have my own sound. It's just fun to read.
Some people are turned onto brands by their favourite artist playing their equipment, otherwise there would be no need for sig models as they simply wouldn't sell. However they do sell and people are turned on by the fact their fav artist plays xxxxx equipment.
Can't believe there is so much contrversey over this compared to 'Do you believe in god' post I did ages ago.
Peace

If Fender are going to do ANYTHING it would be to sort out their product page. Inaccurate information and really 5h1t photos from one distant angle. Also not all colour options of each even have photos. It's a joke for a company like this.

Don't you get it? It's got nothing to do with talent and everything to do with sales and getting the guitars seen by people who would not otherwise normally see them.
Let's face a hard fact here guitar lovers. Mayer has likely sold more (and therefore exposed more non-guitar-playing people to the Strat) than the rest of Fender's endorsee list put together this last 4 years.

If you were in the business of selling guitars, who would you want to show them off?

Someone who plays divinely, like the Heavenly Host is singing in your ear. But just plays in his bedroom.
Or the run of the mill guy who gets seen by 10gazzillion people a week?

It's ALL about how much the artist can expose Fender products to the public. It's got nothing to do with talent, ability, STD's or Fender promoting the artist.

One thing I will say is that despite all the above, Fender seem to be prepared to work with artists of many different levels. Not just the megastars or actors, like some other crowds. That no doubt stems from the excellent Fender Rock School. Which gets nowhere near enough exposure on this site.
Well worth taking a look at the links at the bottom of this page.
