There has been a nasty outbreak of a particularly nasty flu virus here since Christmas. The virus hits the respitory system with a vengeance causing heavy nasal and chest congestion. The strain is one that wasn't foreseen and therefore there was no innoculation for this virus.I had a flu shot and an H1N1 shot and still got nailed with it. I went to the drugstore to get some decongestant tablets and the pharmacist said that they are selling record amounts of them-at least someone is benefiting from this lousy bug.Has it hit your area yet?

Just a few cases so far in Louisiana. Constantly washing hands is a must.

Toronto has it H3N2 which was part of the vaccine for this year, however it seems it mutated. Oh and also we have the norovirus (stomach flu), for which there is no vaccine and alcohol hand sanitizers are not so effective but the soap is.

Here is a nice read

And that's the reason you got the flu.

I'll never take a government-recommended vaccine.

I got hammered with it over Christmas, I felt like death sucking on a lollipop. I am just now getting over it. :(

Had it just before Christmas, then it went, got it again now. Blame the germ'y 3 year old.

I have noticed my immune system really weaken this last 3 years, since the construction industry all but ceased. Simply because I'm not as exposed to germs as much.
I used to be cast iron against bugs. I could have kissed a leper and been safe. Now I can't look at someone funny without catching something.

I picked up what you are describing somewhere in mid-October. It peaked around December but it still isn't gone yet. As a matter of fact, I'm susceptible to and am now feeling some symptoms of Bronchitis. If this whole respiratory thing doesn't blow over real soon with me, I'm going to have to go to the doctor.

I had a teacher years ago who used to say, "When you ask yourself the question, Why me? Simply answer, Why not?"

Martian, don't take any chances my friend. If you feel like you need to see a doctor then go. Better safe than sorry! Hope you get to feeling better.

Man do I enjoy looking at your avatar Martian!

One good thing about my current spate of buggy health. The weights dropping off and the stomach and chest muscles are getting plenty of excersize.

I'm only going to give it a few more days and if I feel no improvement, then I will. Thank you!

I thank you! Truth be told, I still gawk at it constantly from across the room when I'm not playing it.

I wish I could say the same. The only weight I drop is from my chin to my stomach.
