Well, almost 3 weeks now and things are coming along quite nicely.I can use it lightly now for eating and brushing teeth and such but that is about it.It is surely lacking gripping strength.I have decided to have the left hand done this Thursday and be all done with it so as not to prolong the recovery for both hands. As far as the right hand goes, it is still quite tender and I definitely cannot play guitar with it yet.I might be able to lightly strum if I'm lucky, but NO WAY could I do any fast tremelo type picking. If it was my fret hand .....not even a chance I would have the strength yet to fret.I can tell it will be a while after I do my left hand before I am up and playing on a regular basis. The doctor told me to take it easy for a few weeks, so I have been.I am a very impatient person and can't stand just sitting around.I have scored me one of those powerballs (gyroscope).Has anyone ever used one of these for rehab or just general hand, wrist and finger strengthening? I will let you all know how that goes on the next update.Looking forward to getting back to normal.Hope all are having a Happy New Year and ripping your favorite tunes up.Peace.... till next time
Eric

Glad to hear that you're on the mend Eric,my chiropractor suggested that I get one of the "stress Relief" balls or pouches-the ones filled with fine grains of silica-as they provide just the right amount of resistance to strengthen the hand and wrist muscles.

I am really glad I found your post! I need to have the same surgery in both of my hands and have been hesitant because it would keep me away from playing everyday! It is getting progressively worse and I know my reasoning is a little askew, since it won't be long and I won't be able to play anyway! I think you have inspired me to give my surgeon a call tomorrow.
Keep taking care of yourself and thanks for the post!

ChubbyD,
I can only speak from my experience but I would not hesitate if it is hindering your everyday life like mine was.Pain at night and day sucked big time and it was taking its toll on me mentally and physically.I am glad I did it cause I was extrememy hesitant to do it also.Think it over really good and you will know what to do.Best of luck bro
Eric

Thanks for the support guys.I know that I will be back in the game here just as soon as I get this other hand done on Thursday and get going on the physical therapy.I already am feeling much better and wish I would of takin the leap sooner before it caused so much nerve damage. My doc says with a little time and good attitude I will be as good as new.
Been rippin the harmonica up and messin with my drum machine and vocals in the mean time :D You really take your hands for granted when they function properly. When they don't work.... it's a real bummer. You would be surprised how hard it is to wipe your $@! with your opposite hand if you have never tried before.
I know the first time I pull the trigger on any of my handguns the recoil is gonna freak me out. Lookin forward to hunting and fishing and playing guitar and all the $@!& I've been missin out on now for months.
