only last year i gave up driving my heavily modded 1989 saab 900 t16s , it started off standard at 175 bhp and ended up a tranny crunching 245 bhp / 370 nmt 8) , the gearbox wasn't built/ designed for it , i used to go through 3 or 4 a year 8) and it could drink petrol at an astonishing rate as well :) ,i've also owned triumph dolomite sprints , mk1 ford escort and a few others , also some old $@! bikes when i was younger :D

My first car in 75 was a right off the showroom Pontiac Astre, it was such a piece of garbage, on the way to a concert the screws for the headlight assembly fellout and everyday was something or other failing. I had it for two weeks, took it back to the dealership numerous times in those two weeks.

Finally I said take and keep the car, as they insistently offered a replacement I declined and took instead a Saab 99E. What a great car that was, 3 cross country trips in all kinds of weather,
easy to repair, pretty fast and amazing on fuel consumption.
Needless to say I have never bought another Pontiac.

But I do remember a 67 Chevy Bel-Air that was a lot of fun. Bought for $200.00 plugs, coil tune up that was it for two years :)

Man if ever there was a thread geared up for Xhefri, this is it.

My guitars have been round a few nice cars. Myself functionality wins over style everytime. So I'll stick with my turn on a sixpence modern thing.

However cos I like to look at interesting cars. A old drummer's runabout. Next to it is a ModelT he's rebuilding currently, as well as a gargantuan 40's Plymouth with the original Mopar valve radio in it.

A friends TVR Chimera showing off a great guitar. Don't the colours go nice together. (Please don't ever accuse me of being 'good with colours'). The British Racing (or is it shamrock) Green really compliments the sunburst.

Although I don't own any ,I am a fanatic about classic cars and always buy up the latest issues of Hemmings Motor News and the DuPont Car Registry and I also have dozens of classic car books. My absolute favourite classic car brand is the Packard with the '34-'36 Dual Cowl Phaetons being my favourites. My favourite "late" model classic would be the '63-'64 Ferrari 250 GTO.

Hopefully not, but since this is an international gathering I would say that the criteria is the more the merrier :D

I drive an 04 A4 Quattro so, a 944S would fit perfectly in my garage. 8)

As far as Vintage I always waited with abatted breath for Ford to import the Escort Cosworth stateside but instead they gave us these anemic shoe boxes which anyone over 5'7" could forget about getting in, let alone get out in case of a crash.

Choice, another Audi fan! My daily driver is a '99 A6 Avant Quattro. The track monsters stay in the garage until all the snow has melted and the sand/salt clears from the streets. Already counting down the days!

Why? They drive like crap compared to modern vehicles. I have had a few and still love them especially old pickups. But they don't handle or ride nothing like a modern vehicle where a manufacture would ever be able to sell them. Thats the reason for the new ones with the retro styling but every thing is modern, Engines are better, anti lock brakes, Traction control, Stability control est. est.

Those Porsches are beautiful and a have a weakness for 911s. If you ever want to sell the 911T, I'll take it, that's an incredible color, especially with the black Fuchs! I've actually been looking for an 87-88 911 G50 car for a bit. Here's a photo from today's NASA event at Homestead Miami that you would appreciate; looks like the same wheels as your SC.

Many thanks!! The 911T is an absolute gem on the track and on the street, albeit rough and ratty around the edges. The interior is completely gutted and even the slightest bump jostles the hell out of you, but she sure is fun as hell. As for a G50 911, an 87-88 would be choice. Once they started galvanizing the bodies, the rust issue became minimal, so a lot of these cars can be found for cheap bucks and in great condition. Let me know if you ever want to chat Porsches or if you get serious in the market, I'd love to offer any help!

Absolutely loving the NASA shots! Hope you guys are having a ball down there. Up here in the frigid tundra that we call the Northeast, I'm counting the days/hours/minutes until it's driving season again. Looks like a prime setup you have with the Subaru! Ever make it up north to Lime Rock or the Glen?

Cheers!

Chris,
I'd love to get up to Lime Rock. I used to live in Norwalk and never made it there when we lived in CT, which I was sorry for. I usually come up north in the summer (I'm a teacher) to visit family, so perhaps this year, I can make it; by then the suspension should be a lot tighter and the power up another 30-40hp.
I will definitely keep in touch when I get closer to buying a Porsche
Serge

Serge,
Sounds great! I'm in Fairfield County, up near Danbury actually. If you happen to be in town and it coincides for a track event it would be great to meet up. Good luck with the Subaru tuning! Do you autocross it as well? How far along is the project?

My first car was a 1964 two-door hardtop Ford Falcon Futura. (say that three times fast!)

It was painted Fiesta Red.
I re-upholstered the interior, pulled out the original 200 cid straight-six and crammed (literally) a Mercury 302 V8 under the hood. It was bored the cylinders over spec, put 351 Windsor heads on it, beefed up the transmission (from the same Mercury), put on a Carter AFB carb & an Edelbrock Torquer II intake, specially made Hedman Headers, plus a whole lot more...that sucker could fly!

I still own it, and it vaguely runs. Recently my wife said, "Let's get that thing on the road!" I better take her up on her offer before she changes her mind...
