I understand your points and do agree with you, it is this very topic we are discussing that often leaves me to pass up a bargain because of where it is being sold or/and by whom.
Being the receiver of stolen goods when they are tracked down even if bought with a sales slip is not good on anyone's record.

You know the story of Eric Johnson's strats that were stolen from him years ago.??
Long story short, a little old lady who lived in his neighborhood put up her recently deceased husbands guitars for sale. Johnson went to look at them only to realize they were the very same guitars that had been stolen from him many years before.
