So who else here likes these guys? I've been a casual fan for about a year now, and lately I find myself constantly going back to their songs. I have never heard anybody play the pedal steel like this guy.
Here's an awesome video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK561tuWA90

He is no doubt very very talented at what he does. I am a fan of his when he plays the blues but not so much when he gets into other genres of music, although that is also very impressive. I thought the set he played with Joe Bonamassa at Crossroads was phenomenal and one of the best moments of the festival.

I don't own any of his music, but I've liked what I've seen and heard from him, although it hasn't been a whole lot.

Really talented musician. Been listening to him for a while now. Saw him with The Word 2 years ago in NYC, then last April at the Wannee Festival with the Family Band, with The Word, and playing with North Mississippi and the Allman Brothers on their sets.

Agreed...I haven't picked up the crossroads dvd yet, but I did see a clip of their performance together, and it really was awesome.

I first saw him opening for Third Day and Switchfoot right after Hurricane Ike in 2008. Everyone was still kind of depressed and I think that show helped lift a lot of people's spirits.

When they first rolled the pedal steel out on stage I was thinking, "Oh, crap! Country." But as soon as he started playing I've been a fan. They just completely blew everyone away. :D

Do you know their names or have a link? I'd like to check them out.

no i dont. i saw a interview with him several yrs ago. they asked him who his influences were early on in his playing and he brought them in. they were cool. he said he grew up watching those two in his church play. all three did a couple songs and man, they blew him away in my opinion. these two cats were old im tellin ya. what i was watching i dont remember but that was my first introduction to robert. it blew me away, all of it.
thats the first time ive seen those pedals played like that.
a far cry from the old showbuds and country&western. (those with a little age on them will know those words lol)

He has played on all three Crossroads DVD's and is amazing. This last Crossroads DVD seems to be the best yet. My only complaint with Robert is that he makes it look tooooo easy.

I love them, no doubt! They were on (for one song only, sadly) Eric Clapton's Crossroads Tour DVD (2007) and when I popped it in the DVD player for the first time, I was turned on to them. Super great music right there. I like everything about them.
