Pretty much the same for me (amended to better suit, sorry GS). The grey things.
Though I do like Vpicks too.

These days it's all fingers. I set myself the task of using em a couple of years ago. When I was a kid I used to switch between the two without thinking about it. Now I'm playing what I want to play, rather than being forced to play rock. I use em a lot more, though I still have to have a plectrum too. Like a security blanket, except I do rely on them for rhythm based stuff. I'm getting better with my thumb all the time, I reckon in another year or two, I'll not be buying plectrums at all.
Nothing beats the sound of fingers and thumb, though you have to turn your amp up. You'll never get the high level of attack a plectrum gives, out of your thumb. Knopfler said that a plectrum is the best amplifier you'll ever own. I agree with him to a certain extent. I think of all the questionable improvments you can make to your gear. Switching between fingers or pick makes the biggest difference.

All in all, I can wholly recommend using both. I think I've opened up my repetoire 100% by using both styles.

Fingers (flesh & fingernails, man!) only. I started doing that about twelve years ago and never looked back. It made everything I wanted to do much easier to accomplish.

For about three songs, however, I do use a pick...then I use either the Steve Clayton 1.26 mm or 1.52 mm small teardrop shaped acetal polymer picks or the Dunlop Jazz III 1.38 mm sharp-tips. I find the heavier, smaller picks make me pick more cleanly.

Jazz IIIs, Green Teardrop Tortexes, and .80mm nylon wedgies which are like the dunlop ones but with a concaved grippy bit for your thumb.

I have been all over the place in the plectrum dept. when playing mostly acoustic I always ended up with the typical medium fender and later settled on the dunlop .50 mm. When playing electric I gravitated to thicker and thicker picks because of the tonal differences. I'm pretty stuck on V picks now. Love em

For two years I've been happily using Dunlop Ultex .73. Also fingers.

Currently I'm using Fender Heavy (the colorful ones) and Dunlop Ultex (1.14) for electric and Dunlop Nylon (1.07) for acoustic - and fingers for some songs.
Don't think there's such a thing as "best sounding", I got a dozen of all shapes and sizes and started trying them out. I used to love those small Dunlop Jazz III, but not any more, go figure :)

Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring finger with Long fingernails which at times are reinforced with acrylic nail compound, albeit my profession makes it incredibly difficult to keep my nails intact and I must wear gloves. The pinky I use as a base on electric depending on the need, but the picking hand is usually free floating on steel string acoustic or classical since resting any appendage on a guitar top muffles the vibrations and negatively affects tone.

For picks it is currently Star Picks in a .73 med. This of course may change in the future as it always has over the years.

Electric I use the Fender Heavy Greens, with some crosshatching I cut on both sides for grip. With my acoustic I like the Medium Oranges, it gets a nice bright clear tone which I love.

I'm a V-Pick picker, all sizes, I switch sometimes mid-song, such is the tonal variation I find I can get with these things. I've just ordered a new batch. 8)

Nothing fancy - Fender heavys, the white ones (makes it easier to find when I drop one :) )
