My Strat is in E flat for SRV stuff, cause you can always capo it at 1 and BAM, standard. Ernie Ball 10s on that. My SG switches between Standard and Drop D as needed, right now it has Ernie Ball 11s.

All of my guitars are in standard tuning, but I used the excuse that I wanted guitars in different tunings so I could buy another one or two.

Now the wife is gone so it doesn't matter anymore.

haha I used the same excuse after my first one failed.

first one - Hunny, all my guitars sounds different and allow me to get any sound I need, the new guitar i want will cover a sound and look that the others don't. her response, then buy one of those pedal thingy's to change the sound for 40 bucks rather then 1200 bucks for a new guitar. /sigh

I remember reading an article in Hit Parader Magazine back in the 60s(when it was actually fit to read) that when Bob Lind-The Elusive Butterfly,I Just Let It Take Me-when touring England used to tune his guitar to the dial tone of the phones there as they were in the key of E-at that time.

For the most part I tune to standard. On occasions I tune to Drop D and open D.

It looks like most of the people on this forum are not playing extreme metal, but a lot of blues players. Now for shits and giggles what amp do you use. I mostly record into my computer with guitarig, and a blackstar ht40 for live stuff. I am much more a gain distortion then overdrive.

I play everything from gospel to blues to death metal

I use a Randall LB with the JCM 800 mod, Plexi mod, blackface mod and mesa rectifier mod for most of my playing. I also use a Roland JC-120 for my cleans or any effects i want to use. run the randall though a Mesa stilleto slant cab with vintage 30's. sometime run a boss MT-2 with the Roland JC-120 if i want a good portable set-up for some quick METAL!

I mainly go to E flat, b/c most of songs i play are from the 90s and everything was half step down then. Occasionally i go to drop D. But I mainly stay in standard on my electrics, i don't like detuning really. Everytime i do i pop a string

Yeah it seems from the time I have been on here a lot of people play blues and have a love interest with Izzy Stradlin. He's a good guitar player but not as good as people hype him up to be.
Peace
