Drop mAy as well be playing bass.

by drop A i mean E to A and the rest in standard..... nothing else drops...

this is what made me start playing around with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U8fRHemfZw

Interesting, I'll have to see how my 11s fare at that. I should think not much better than 10s

Standard E except for my 12 string which is tuned down to D. As far as I know that is fairly common with 12 strings. I always presumed it was due to the pressure on the neck from all those strings. I would always have to capo up to be with the other guitars and capoing a twelve string was always a hassle. Kinda have to push it this way and that to find that sweet spot where there was no fret buzz.

Standard A440
Open G (and various uptunings based on this with the use of a capo)
Open D (ditto)
Open Gm (ditto)
Open Dm (ditto again)

1/2 step down from Standard
full step down from Standard (on my acoustics, especially)

It all depends on the mood I'm in and what song I'm playing...

Standard for 2 strat and a tele (Standard rock & blues), 1/2 step down for another Fender strat (SRV & Hendrix). Standard for my Martin (blues & folk), and Open G for the Taylor (blues slide, and World music).

My 12 string is tuned to open D, a six string acoustic tuned to open E. My schecter Hellraiser I tune down a half-step to Eb; I use it on a few songs I wrote a while back and can't quite hit the higher notes anymore. The rest of my guitars are in standard A440.

I go back and forth from standard to E flat. Every once in a while I drop d tune for some of those songs which are played that way.
