Hey Gang,

Just a word that I got a new acoustic guitar today- Takamine G Series acoustic (below). I had always wanted to get an acoustic to play around on, nothing too flash- just decent enough if you know what I mean. I didnt expect much but this has a solid spruce top, mahogany (i think) back & sides and a rosewood board. It also has an in-built tuner. I looked at the Yamaha counterparts and this thing blows them all away. I didnt want to get an electro and I didnt want to get a black acoustic but dang- this guitar really sung to me and I couldnt say no! :D

Also, totally un-related I scored myself an outdoor badminton/volley ball set for the nieces = hours of fun in the sun! Good score. So as it is summer down here, I was sitting on the back deck as the sun went down, jamming on the new girl. Making some good memories

Big shout to the Queensland flood victims, I have some family and friends there, and I dear say we will have some members over there- Kinemankarma I think lives there, I hope all is good there and people are sitting tight. To put things in perspective, total area the size of Texas is under water. Imagine that. Thoughts and hope for everyone in Queensland.

Sorry for the quality of the pics, you cannot expect too much from a Nokia phone! Will get decent ones up later :)

Nice guitar Blertles! Takamine is way up there at the top of my list for the best straight up, unplugged acoustic tones. I'll bet that guitar really does sing.

Nice Acoustic, I've got a G series 363, Same as that but with no pick guard and natural finish. the only complaint i have is the under saddle pickup is made so you cannot replace the plastic bridge. I wanted to replace mine with bone, but the guy who set mine up told me that with that pickup. replacing the bridge would make the pickup not work. It sounds great unplugged, and I have thought about replacing it anyway and using a sound hole pickup, But for now I've left it stock and it may stay that way. It is a nice guitar, but I would have bought a different one had I known about the deal. 8)

Congratulations Blertles! You have a beautiful guitar there, thought of LZ Gallows Pole. I know there are other acoustic stringed instruments on that track but always thought it fun to jam that tune.

Hi Blertes, you made a wise choice by going with Takamine.I've played several and had a lend of one of the "lawsuit" Taks for a few months, they make great acoustics and acoustic electrics.Years ago CF Martn sued Takamine for not only copying their headstock but for closely following Martin's design and bracing system and consequently making a very Martin sounding guitar for thousands less.

Yeah I have been good- getting caught up in life I guess, 2011 is going to be a very interesting year :) I have to face some demons and take a cold hard look within. I need to change my way of thinking. It's a very positive thing, but for me- this is a few years overdue :)

Gallows Pole, now theres a nice acoustic song!- a build up to very intense, you dont get that often in acoustic tracks often!

My other "Un-Ledded" fav is "No-body's fault but mine"- love that song! all I need now is a 12 string!

It seems that for a pretty bulletproof gigging acoustics, Takamine's have been very good and their sound is great.
A look at Glenn Hansard Taka is a pretty good endorsement.

My 94 OM-10 Larrivee acoustic is for one not set up as to be plugged in and this has been a quandary for me since I have had it, to or not to install an under saddle piezo run thru the strap plug.
It always goes back and forth as to wether it would just be better to buy a nice Taylor GS.

It's a nice one you have there! probably best mic'ed in my opinion- any piezo won't do that guitar any justice! :)

Thanks, I have been back and forth on that issue so many times I have lost count, I traded my other Larrivee, a 95 Florentine cutaway 05 for the CS 56 NOS, I am not sure if that was also a good idea, but that seems to always be the case when you either sell or trade a really nice instrument.
