Welcome to the forums! The guitar really is a great instrument. You will most likely really enjoy it.

Here is a great website:
http://www.justinguitar.com/

You can also try youtube for lessons if you want to learn any song in particular.

Welcome to the Forum and to the joys of playing guitar Beermaker. If you get a bit discouraged that you're not progressing as fast as you would like to don't worry-we've all been there.First off your finger tips may get a little sore for the first couple of weeks playing but this disappears soon as your fingertips develop callouses.Anyway best of luck and stick to it as the guitar can bring you immeasureable pleasure and fulfillment and get you girls(lol).Drop us a line to let us know your progress or if you need advice or encouragement.

Hi,
congratulations with your first guitar, hope you will enjoy it for a very long time.
The hardest part for everyone who wants to learn to play guitar is the beginning. The first few months are terrible, the sounds your guitar produces are just awful, every one around you ask you to put it away, your fingers hurt, it is no fun at all.
But you must remember one thing, it will get better, much better, once you are through this first learning stage. Once you know how to tune your guitar properly, and you are able to play the first simple chords, you will start to enjoy it.
Then you will really start to learn to play guitar, which will never stop, this learning process I mean. I do not think that there is one guitarist who has learned all there is to learn about playing The Guitar, how good they are, there is always more to learn, and that is one of the great things about guitar playing.
Hope you will enjoy it, like most of the people here

Welcome to the forums, and welcome to playing the guitar. Like the others said, the first little while can be a little frustrating as a beginner guitarist. Once you get past that point and have learned the basic mechanics of playing and a few chords, the rewards will greatly justify the hard work. More than just having fun and playing a few songs, I find that the guitar can be a great stress reliever. So...I said all that to say this: Enjoy your new guitar and good luck!
A great place to find lessons for beginners is youtube. A simple search for beginner guitar lessons, or something along that line should yield plenty of results and get you well on your way.

Welcome to the Forum beermaker! Congratulations, you have a wife and son who love you dearly and an acoustic guitar is a wish come true. You are knew, as other Bros have given the info you requested about websites I can only add the obvious, do not put up your guitar unless absolutely necessary. You will know about playing much faster that way. Enjoy your new Fender!

The Fender lessons are very good.

http://www.fender.com/en-GB/community/onlinelessons/
Look for chords/begginer, lessons.

Aside from them, look for Hal Leonard books.

Good luck and welcome to the world of guitar.

I'm sorry to say that looking online I can't find any lesson courses that I would recomend. The all seem to want to teach you how to tune the guitar, show you what the notes are, then throw scales at you.
Not that you won't need to learn those things to some degree as you progress. I think it's far more important to learn to tune, open note names, then open chords. Atleast that way you can develop a sense of rhythm and you'll learn right hand control as much as left hand control.
