how come fender doesn't acknowledge buddy holly's contribution to fender's growth with a signature guitar or HOF or even a listing under artists on the website?

It may have something to do with his estate,I heard of some kind of tangle a while back involving his estate and his widow or whatever.Maybe they're blocking any kind of endorsement deal as I'm sure Fender appreciates the contribution Buddy made to putting the Stratocaster in the public eye.

that makes sense. it's a shame though. come to think of it, it seems he's always included in books about fender, but i guess that's a different deal. thanks.

She is known to be a bee-itch when it comes to Buddy's musical legacy. It was her who forced the city of Lubbock to remove a life-sized statue of her husband that had stood in the center of town for many years.

Maria is still pissed that Buddy had hired a divorce attorney
before he left on the last tour.

Hopefully she won't find this :

The Fender Custom Shop is planning to release a Buddy Holly strat some time this year.

If you search around on either the CS forum or Ask Mike Eldred, you'll find the thread.

I was at the Buddy Holly museum in Lubbock about 11 months ago. It's worth the visit...

edit - here's the thread: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=32249

I know i wouldn't want one of my wife after she died that i would have to see everyday, it would be heartbreaking, but just the same, not everything is about you. someone how leaves a legacy behind like Holly should be remembered and she should not stop anyone trying to remember her husband. and funny enough my wifes name is Holly :)

Maybe they could just release a Huddy Bolly version?....bad joke I know!

He does deserve his own reissue, he will forever be known with that guitar in his hands.

It's a shame that all the Buddy Holly's afficionados can't enjoy more official exposure of the man who started the electric power trio :? and contributed to spoil the youth with rock'n roll music.
:) But beside these legal issues, I think that everyone knows who he was, what he did and what we owe him. Hail hail Buddy Holly. :D :D :D

There's a Buddy Holly film on you tube that Paul McCartney had something to do with called "The Real Buddy Holly Story",I've watched some of it and it's good.
A lot of the guys were interviewed that were with him in those days.
I've briefly met J.I. Allison,Joe B. Mauldin, and Sonny Curtis in the past and it was really cool to meet some true R&R pioneers,I can't say I know them,so it's neat to hear them tell the stories of playing with Buddy and how they got started,in the film.
That's one cool thing about Nashville,no telling who you're liable to run into.
