The Beatles And Their Women. That would indeed make for a complicated book...!

EDIT: come to think of it, I've decided to edit my first response to your chocolate bar comment to remove it. I expect my thought on that doesn't belong on this particular Forum.

Instead, see you down the pub tonight! We'll discuss it there! :D

 always felt that although most guitarists love Beatles music they are not always big Beatle fans. The screaming women made the hair stand-up on the back of your neck because you knew that when you hit the stage you had to put on your best performance to get woman to dance let alone scream not many after them even came close. Cheap Trick drew women like bees to nectar I've heard Styx did too in the early days but the Beatles like Elvis before them and Frank before him were hard to compete with so your game had to be flawless. They made all of us better. I still like them. Paul has always been cool in that Liverpudlian way they all had back then. But, I don't completely forgive them for surprising us so thoroughly in 63.

There was an episode on "Biography" about the Beatles' women--it gave a short profile of each of them, and was very respectful to all of them (which is rare to not hear/see bashing of Yoko and Linda, especially).

By weird coincidence, I was in a cabin which had cable TV (I don't have cable, so I rarely see The Biography channel) when this aired--it was around Christmas (a few weeks ago)...

I've noticed that many people who have had successful long-term relationships (like Paul and Linda) often do not choose well when they are on the market again.

Perhaps it's because those people made it work once, they don't see how a less dedicated/loyal/honest person makes such a terrible spouse...or they don't appreciate that the lost spouse's qualities/actions were just as important to the success of the coupling as their own qualities/actions.

It sounds corny, but I found my soul mate with my wife, and I have no idea what I would do if she were no longer with me. I seriously doubt I would get married ever again, and if I did, I wouldn't do it very soon.

Hi SA: that's a great post, I support every word of that.

With Paul it was certainly the phenomenon they call "bereaved man syndrome" - though I've seen it apply equally to women too. Someone loses the love of their life and is so utterly torn apart at finding half of their life suddenly a gaping cavernous hole they simply cannot bear it and have to fill that void immediately. Somehow.

Just as you say, at that terrible point in their life their judgement is likely not working too well and - disrespect to Heather Mills to one side - they are probably not in the best frame of mind to make a relationship work anyhow, no matter how saintly the new partner.

McCartney has done so much music I've loved all my life, and from those that have met him I hear he's about as nice and down to earth a fella as we could hope to find. So I'd like to think he's now got his feet on the ground and this time has found himself someone good he can go through the rest of life with. I know nothing of her but she certainly looks all right in the photo!

I wish them well.

Cheers - C

EDIT: typo

Ceri--
Thanks so much for the name of the syndrome. I've often wondered about why people who seem to be "good" at marriage choose so unwisely the second time around. I have a female friend who is doing that right now, and she refuses to slow down or listen to reason from anyone, even though the guy seems like a creep who is after her money (and her, too, she's fairly attractive).

Cheers to you, too...MWA

Yoko Ono has an account with flickr with lots of cool pics posted. Maybe she's traded in her dynamic microphone for a digital SLR.
