Not just with FMIC but with any US corporation these days, the bottom line is that any corporation which hires someone would have to be overwhelmingly certain that (s)he can increase and sustain profitability over a lengthy and indefinite period of time. This would certainly entail a much higher return for the "suits" than whatever the salary and benefits package for this new hire would be. Consider the fact that once this 'singular skill' of the new hire gets implemented and/or learned by others, that makes said person who brought it (now) in essence, expendable. Therefore, in the final corporate analysis, they'd do better by hiring a temporary consultant with no benefits for said 'singular skill' where by contract, they can freely terminate him or her immediately after the corporate objective is achieved.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

I will give you some advice that worked for me when I was looking for employment. Are you on (Linked In) Professional networking site? If not, start out by doing this:

1) Create a professional profile that you think will link you to the job you want and state your professional interest with guitars/production/Account management.

2) Look up the professionals who work for Fender and invite them on your network list of friends.

3) Also, invite yourself to professional guitar forum sites on LinkedIn that have to do with production and manufacturing of guitars.

Tip: Do not use LinkedIn like Facebook or any other forum. Try to keep it professional.
This way . . . . perspective employers can take you seriously. Don't discuss politics or what sucks . . . .ect.ect.

I know you want a job right now with Fender. But if you plant the seeds right now and express your desire to work for Fender . . . you can start by networking with people who work there or upper management. Another great thing with LinkedIn is this; when you communicate with upper management or other internal employees - - - you sometimes bypass the HR department and become a direct hire! Oh yes..if you can, look up Fender HR on LinkedIn as well too. Doesn't hurt to communicate with them too.

If it is your desire to work with Fender, you should get nothing but encouragement and advice to start.

I hope this helps for you. Best of luck.

¿Hablas Español?

You'll need that skill to work in Ensenada. Perhaps Corona as well.

I notice that Forum user Blaqdog started this thread in January 2008. I wonder if he ever landed that job at Corona? I wonder if he's been building our guitars for the last five years? Or not?

[Calling] Hey Blaqdog? Update...?

Cheers - C

I believe that the absolute minimum criteria for getting hired at Fender would to become a guitar obsessed, gifted woodworker and perfectionist. If a person doesn't have the 3 of these at a bare minimum I doubt that they should bother applying-unless of course you'd just be content to scrub floors and clean the washrooms...lol.
