had to deal with the butthead mods over at a well-known first model Fender guitar website? Just wondering as certain people can post what they want and others like me get the boot for a like-minded comment. If a thread gets started and it looks like comments may be made to get the thread pulled or person(s) banned then the mods need to look at the big picture and stop the problem before it starts.

Sorry for the rant and I'm not telling any moderator how to do his/her job. I do have respect for fellow posters and the mods of websites but favoritism is unfair.

Mate, internet politics stinks. Sadly it's a factor whenever you get more than three strangers chatting about something. I'm no mod, but as far as cyberspace relationships towards people go. It's all on a post by post basis with me. Thats all I can do, forget the author to a certain extent and concentrate on the info given in the thread.

Sorry you or anyone else got the boot from some other site, well atleast it wasn't the best one, eh? All I can imagine is that you made similar comment and was judged as diving on. In some way trying to start some kind of communal bashing. But thats a supposition from someone who don't know all the facts. Show's you how much that opinion is worth, dunnit.

Happy new year anyway.

Hi waya: happy New Year to you (my first post of 2011 :) ).

Care to give us a link to the thread in question? So's we can go do a bit of shameless rubber-necking? :D

Cheers - C

I assume by "well known first model" you are referring to the TD?RI. Yes it's very bad over there but I've seen worse, especially at the now renamed former Tay?or one.

It's even worse when you are a contributing (money) member and your comments are nowhere near as abrasive as others and you still get punted. I've seen it happen. There was a guy on the F?P had it happen to him. The guy already had my email and informed me of what happened and asked if I would look into why. I had read the post. When I went back to find it it was gone, as was his name on the contributing members list. (Something they no longer publish) I contacted the mod resposible (not CG) and I was invited to leave since I was now seen as defending the guy. I contacted CG and told him about it but I got no response. I kept that in the back of my mind and when my year was up (manditory yearly contribution to post in M?e's) I decided to just quietly leave and go elsewhere.

There's no accounting for the 'good-ole-boy' mind set on many boards. I think it's just because they are private boards and not company owned. Seems to be no rhyme or reason for a lot of crap that happens except to deduce it's just a clique and if you're not in it, you're not welcome. In the situation I mentioned above I had been in the clique but the second I raised a question about the shenanigans I was nothing but dirt.

You're nobody until you've been booted off of a forum at least once.

I must be somebody then. I got booted off the old Tay?or forum a few years ago because they didn't allow humor. I got 'em back though. Got a new hotmail address and joined again with the username of "Haywood Jablome" and made a bunch of snide posts about the mods. Took 'em about 2 hours to find the posts and delete them and my new profile by which time a ton of people had seen the posts and responded to them. When I saw the profile had been deleted and couldn't post anymore I sat and reflected on all the posts and the numbers of people who had viewed the threads and a song came to me. I fired up the music player on my PC and rocked out to Bon Jovi's (I'm goin' down, in a) Blaze of Glory.

Two (or more) issues elude me.

(1) Why would anyone pay to be on a forum :? Let's face it if it is just to rant and rave without constructive criticisms than the Fox network is a likely candidate.

(2) If a forum does not allow dissent then why ruffle your own feathers to be part of it :?:

(3) Personal attacks are unacceptable, regardless if directed at the OP or the subject matter.

(4) It's probably why I'm on this forum and not the other's mentioned

Just noticed the OP's sig line.
Must be a Uriah Heep fan.
Any Heep fan is a friend o' mine.

We must, keep them away
Or pretty soon we'll pay
And count
The cost
In sorrow

Sacrifice
The future has its price
And today is only yesterday's tomorrow

Could be worse. I am a member of another guitar community online where "political topics and conversation" is prohibited, which to the mods means it is perfectly acceptable to post political content so long as it is coming from a far left wing frame of mind and anyone who disagrees with that POV is being attacked. Once sparks start to fly, the mods let the thread stay open just long enough for the OP to get his cheap shots and insults in at those who disagree, then the topic gets locked immediately and those who disagreed with the OP get warned and threatened by the Mods. So yeah, it could be worse. At least here we all get heated at times about certain topics but Brad does a professional job of moderating and keeping the peace when needed without censoring or threatening anyone.

To that, I say thanks Brad and thanks to everyone else here, it could be much worse if we didn;t have this place to come together and discuss Fenders, guitars and life in general.

Yeah, I've been kicked off that one once too!

As for Uriah Heep, +1.

Years ago I was in a prog-rock band and we did "The Wizard" and "Rainbow Demon".

Great toonage!

Arjay

Speaking of Uriah Heep, (not the Charles Dickens character) is Mick Box the only remaining member still alive :?:

Far as I know Ken Hensley is still alive and gigging as is Lee Kerslake.

OK it's been a while since I listened to Salisbury or the Live LP (euro version) might just have to dig into the LP foot locker and resurrect Uriah on the Turntable :)
