This holiday cheer stuff is very real. I can't believe this has gone three pages without a personal attack. Especially with the names I will not repeat. I like the blonde one. His lyrics touch me. My galluses are chafing me. :?

our generation needs a band like the jesus lizard.... underground music is garbage now
Pain it Black is good, but they need to slow it down a little if they want a larger audience; Cage the Elephant hasent sold out yet plus they got a new album coming out

CTE is the best new band and one of my top 10 bands EVAR

KOL have hardly sold out, they're definitely one of the least commercially minded acts in the mainstream.
They've told of festival crowds for only reacting to songs off only by the night, and the wanted the two songs which went on to be massively successful to be left off the album.
People only accuse them of having sold out because other people like them now.
As for the arctic monkeys, their first album was the fastest selling debut in history and they've had quite a few top 10 hits, and 2 number ones.

but really go to your job/school/wherever your around a lot of people and ask "So have you heard the latest Artic Monkey's single?" im guessing at least 60% will say no. As for KOL they should really throw out their keyboards, theyre definatley pop, he has an amazing voice though

I've had people look over my shoulder at my ipod while I'm listening to songs off Arctic Monkey's most recent album and know it.
As for KOL, their new stuff not being to your taste isn't the same as them selling out, they've grown a lot since youth and young manhood.
Admittedly though, the first single from the new album is pretty woeful.

Freddy Mercury in all set criteria, sales in records / concerts don't see anyone mentioned so far coming close not even Cobain a mere asteroid compared to planetery Freddy Mercury IMO

The OP takes what requires a broad brush on a blank canvas and paints a very small image on it with a #1 sable brush. He's talking Cobain and I'm asking myself where's the rest of the lot in the evolution of the form these past 55 years. Of everything thats come and gone, remains, and is yet to be, it's distills down to Cobain :?:  :?
If Cobain is the last of the great rock stars, you need a consensus on what constitutes rock music and those artists, both group and individual, who fall behind him.  On 12/31/11 I'll come back to this and see how far ya'll have progress.
