Hey guys.

A few months ago, nearly one year sgo, my mum who often goes to brocantes and second-hand markets, brought me something tasty.

She paid 5 euros (+/- 8 bucks) for an Egmond Guitar. After some researching, i found out that Egmond guitars were manufactured in the Netherlands in the early 60's.
Since I didn't find a lot of information, I mailed egmondguitars.com to know a little more about the guitar I've bought.

He told me that the model was a Thunder3 (3 for three pickups) and they were made in the late 60's. The market price today is between $200-$500 depending on the condition.
He also told me that they are about to revive the brand (cool news huh?).

I'll be leaving some pictures here so you can see the guitar in action. Unfortunately, there is only one pickup that works. I'll be working on the guitar in the next months and hopefully I'll be able to get some original parts from Egmond and get this sweet guitar to work. Who knows, maybe I'll be blown away by the tone of the guitar.

Oh, John Lennon's first acoustic guitar was an Egmond, as well as Brian May's, Rory Gallagher's and George Harrison's first electric guitar and bass.

Hi brnmc,

Neat guitar! I wonder if Lennon was inspired by the name of that guitar when he came up with the lyric; "...I am the eggman, they are the eggmen, I am the walrus, koo koo kachew..."? :)
