well the big muff is my fuzz and the ds1 is my high distortion pedal, plus the ibanez is good overdrive for blues and hendrix style licks

and they both work for OD quite well.... those pedals arent one trick ponies, dont treat them like they are and youll save some $$$

unless youre willing to spend $500 on a pedal that might not work/might die on you id go with a clone.... most of the ones that pop up are in absolutely horrible condition

Yep, saw one on eBay that sold for $599 and looked like it had been well used. I'm leaning toward clones like the Wattson Classic Fuzz and the Black Cat Super Fuzz, but they're about $200 and I guess there is a lead time. Had heard the Guyatone TZ2 Fuzz was built on the Univox design, but it's been discontinued and as hard to find as the Univox . . . but it's much cheaper.

I wonder if I would be satisfied with a clone. I have very vivid memories of the sound that came out of my first real rig:

'71 Fender Mustang > Univox Super-Fuzz > crappy no-name wah pedal > Ovation Cat System amp.

A good delay like the Electro Harmonix Memory Boy,Memory Toy,or Memory Man would be a nice relatively inexpensive touch.

Riley,A good delay tastefully used can create great ambience and really add depth to a song.Just listen to Red House on the Hendrix Smash Hits album or House Burning Down on Electric Ladyland where it's paired with flanging and panning to give the guitar an other worldly effect.

man there are so many guitar players that use a delay for something, i think you would be hard pressed to find more than a small handfull that dont use one.

Those seem really cool! does he ship overseas to the US?

I have a muff for distortion, and a digitech RP250 for all of the other stuff. Keepin the setup really simple... (or, as my wallet would allow it...)

My setup: guitar-Muff-RP250-EHX Freeze-amp
You can find some good modeling stuff used for cheap... thats what I would do if you're still looking at the BOSS multi FX's.

OP: I think that pedal setup sounds great, personally.

Word of advice, the chain should really go: Wah to DS-1 to Muff to TS-9. Take my word on that.

need? When did guitar culture change to this assumption that everyone needs a pedal board before they can play? Don't get me wrong, I love a few effects to stomp on too, but I wonder about the priorities of guys I meet who have a $400 guitar and $800 worth of pedals on the floor...

has nothing to do with priorities at all.
makes good solid sense to me.
nothing wrong with a $400 guitar and a $800
pedal board. thats kinda the way it works.
ya think david gilmour's guitar costs more than his $10,000
dollar board? my board totals 4X the cost of my main guitar.

Just wondering aloud really, is that the way it's gotta be?
It's just one of the options innit.
