I don't mean to sound like an idiot but... I've never used any type of pedal before. For Christmas my son gave me a 2 channel switch for my vox amp. It is the correct model that I need, no problem there. What the heck is Channel 2 for? When I press 1 on and off it obviously switches between channel 1 and 2 on my amp. But I can't figure out exactly what, if anything happens when I press 2 on the pedal, on and off! I know this is probably a really dumb question, but it came without instructions and I am perplexed.

Which Vox amp do you have?
It should probably switch your vibrato on and off... but if the depth control was at 0 you wouldn't hear it do anything different. Just a guess. Crank the depth and speed of your Vib up and hit that switch.
Otherwise it might be the wrong switch box for your model and that one does nothing. :)

as was hinted to above, factory pedals are related to specific amp models. i have two fender amps and two fender pedals and they're not interchangeable.
on the 'two button" pedals, one button usually changes from clean to drive channels, and the other will operate an effect that the amp has, i. e., chorus, vibrato, etc., but the pedal has to be the one designed for the amp.
if you have the model # for the pedal, you should be able to find the information on what amp(s) it's designed for.
hope this helps.

I agree with what they both said. It is probably a button to control reverb or vibrato, or even an effects loop on/off if your amp has that feature. hth

Thanks for the input. It was the vibrato and I did inadvertantly have it set to 0. I knew it was probably something simple like that, but I wasn't sure what. I was going nuts trying to figure it out, thanks again!

Ha
It's almost always something dead simple innit?
We've all been there. Well now you can really start to enjoy the vibrato!

Hi Pineknot, what model is your Vox?Most Vox amps have a deliciously lush vibrato.

Glad to hear it was a simple slip of the mind, and not defective gear. Jam on friend.
