I think that I am starting to find a tone the I really like. Here is what I've got going on......

Guitar - Telecaster TC-90 with P90 pups & playing on the neck pup

Amp - Fender Blues Jr. with Bill M mods (Texas Heat Speaker)

Settings
Reverb @ 2.5
Master @ 8
Middle @ 4
Bass @ 9
Treble @ 8
Presence @ 3 o'clock
Volume @ 3.5

Sound??????....smooth as buttah! 8)

It's usually between the volume and the jack socket.

Sounds like a nice setup you have there. I really want to find a guitar with p-90s.

G&L makes a great Tele guitar with thier own version of P90s. Warm & fat with the same bite as a Fender but not quite as much twang. The one pictured below (made in Korea) was mine for a few years. Prolly should not have sold it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Very nice G&L bmw-ktm! You definitely should have held on to that beauty. I have seen a few G&Ls with P-90s, I'll probably give them a closer look in the future. Or my upcoming project may just end up with p-90s...no telling.

Here's where mine comes from :) I don't use anything in the way of pedals since I got the Haze.

It must have taken a short break to throwup after having of Slash's fingers being all over it. Dunno about you but I think he looks like a bit of a sex pest.
I could definitely picture him hanging around the public toilets in the park with a old grey overcoat on.

For a very long time, I used a rather old Korg analog multi-effects unit to layer mostly some OD and EQ on top of my amp's tone. About a year ago, I got a Digitech RP350 multi-effects unit to "modernize" and replace the aging Korg -- again using it primarily for some OD and EQ. I have been wondering recently if this "difference" was actually an improvement. So after living for the Digitech for quite a while, I broke out the Korg to see how it sounded compared to the Digitech. The Digitech is infinitely more configurable but does not sound as warm as the Korg. So now I am back to using the Korg for OD and EQ, in conjunction with the Digitech for only (which I sparingly use) Chorus/Delay/Wah pedal/Noise Gate.

I am now able to better realize that (rather heavy) Steve Vai-ish tone in my head. I wish I would have made this realization earlier as my Tonal Bliss Meter went back to pegged by making the change.

Those G&L Magnetic Field Design pickups are not quite exactly like P-90s. I had a guitar (G&L SC2) with them, and while they're in the same family, they're not exactly the same...kinda like the difference between a wolf and a husky.

P-90s are a bit more rough & ready & raw in tone, fatter, growlier and funkier.

G&L MFDs are a bit more refined, a bit less funky, tighter and sparklier.

Which one is better? That's in the ear of the beholder... 8)

I put a P-90 in the neck position of my Telecaster and it is awesomely unrefined in tone...I love it!
