I've purchased 3 Fender guitars, one being an American Deluxe. Also to Fender Amplifiers, and lots of other misc. items. I've never had a problem.

Here is my opinion:

Sometimes I buy from my local Guitar Center, sometimes Musicians Friend.

I've never used Sweetwater, but I will in the future, I've never heard nothing but good things about them. They also offer free 2 year warranties which MF doesn't. I think I will buy all my stuff from Sweetwater, then the weird stuff that they don't have I'll buy from MF.

Guitar Center owns Musicians Friend, or maybe it's vice versa.

The stuff that comes from MF doesn't come all that well packed, luckily it's only been paper damage or cardboard damage.

I did have one major problem last year from MF. I bought an amp from them the year before. Last year I received my credit card statement and on it was the amp charge again. I called them up and what happened was whatever month it was that I bought the amp exactly one year later they recharged all charges that people charged for that month. So this happened to many, many people. For this problem all they did was give every one a 20% for one item discount. Big, hairy deal. They give out discounts like candy, I logged on one time and wasn't able to, they immediately sent me to a screen that said, "we're doing maintenance, here's a coupon for a 30% one item discount."
