Stopped by the local guitar shop and found a pretty nice ES-175 copy made by DIA
The price seemed pretty good, but have never seen one of these, and can't find any info on-line about it. Only thing I found is japanese made, and during the sixties. Has anyone else ever seen, played, or owned one? Any info would be great, thanks all

First, excuse me for my bad English, I'm latino...
Now, if you need a guitar for beginners, My recommendation is a Fender© Squier. Is a good relation quality-price. The other option, is a Fender© Stratcaster, is american and with the warm sound of Fender© too, however if you ask me waht is the better option in two aforementioned, I not would hesitate in choosing the Fender© SQUIER.
Their sound fits easily from the smooth style like at John Mayer, to a progressive style like at Steve Vai, without losing quality Fender©.

Personally, I used Fender Squier© in studio and in live, their response has been satisfactory, having that his price is not higher to U$180 or U$200 is the perfect option for the beginner.

:!: I hope I have been helpful. :!:
GOD BLESS YOU :D

I have not played one (or even seen one). They are supposed to be pretty good quality Gibson copies (ES and Les Pauls). I have seen some vintage (1965-1985) copies of Fenders and Gibsons that have risen substantially in value which is a crock to me, as I remember how bad some of these guitars were back in the day. A Les Paul copy that sucked back in 1982 will still suck today ... even worse, actually, as guitar quality has improved so much since then. That all being said, don't get fooled into buying a vintage copy at some inflated price just because it is 30-40 years old -- make sure you pay a reasonable price.
