If you don't mind going back in time a bit, I went to a stack of 30 lp's I had taken out of my 400+ lot and picked these for no other reason that they fit the criteria.

" Poco, The very best of "
" Emmylou Harris, Elite Hotel "
" Black Oak Arkansas, Early Times " ( this is a throw me for a loop )
" Little Feat, Down on the Farm "
" Dave Mason, Mariposa de Oro "
" Linda Ronstadt , Heart like a Wheel "
" Gordon Lightfoot, Salute "
I have to reveal that I had never seen this Lightfoot release and the cover photo's specifically the back cover induced me to buy it a few months ago. Iv'e never seen a photo of Gordon Lightfoot dressed in white cowboy boots, flared and frayed matching shirt and jeans with red roses, (reminds me of the Electric cowboy ) but the best is he's sitting in a middle of a reception hall holding a Gibson SG. 8) Fave tune for me would be "Gotta Get Away " on this LP

Yes those are all LP's, I'm retro, what can I say, plus many of my collection are out of print in any format.

53magnatone, thanks for the wake-up Bro. Ruby Jones often sang with Jim "Dandy" Mangrum and his band. She also had her own band "Ruby Star and Grey Ghost". This band from LA had a country rock vibe, Jo Jo Gunne"

I remember Jo Jo Gunne, never got to see them, as for Grey Ghost my fave tune is Burnin Whiskey, actually this Lp is in the pile also, I think in the Lounge I'll start a thread on best way to transfer Lp's to I-Tunes. Someone must have an answer.

I'm interested in your transfer info too. here's Ruby and company, on the album cover the guy standing on the far right is my Bro Gary, great guitar player. He played with Tommy Aldrich (another great Bro and kick-assa drummer) in the Thumbs ( another great rock band back then) we had many good times together.

Kind of an obvious one, but not sure if he was mentined yet. How about Travis Tritt. He had quite a few edgy songs in his day.

SBLS, I seem to come up with contradictory info as far as LP's recorded to Mac for me

The Sony PS-LX300USB seems to be compatible only with XP and Vista :? but searching thru the web some threads say it is compatible to MAC

You may want to check out this site www.DAK.com

A couple more additions to the (Loose definition) country rock list
(1) SNAFU " All Funked Up "
(2) Little River band " Sleeper Catcher "
(3) Henry Paul Band "Grey Ghost "
(4) Crosby Stills & Nash " Shadow Captain "
(5) Crosby & Nash " Wind on the Water "

The last two are more a recall of hanging out on my folks Choy Lee moored out in New Harbor. :)

Thanks for the link 53magnatone! I have XP on my laptop so the LP to CD info may work for me. thinking about actually starting the project was a reality check though, transfer is going to take hours or days perhaps.

I also ran across a TT that allowed plugging in a usb/wifi chip, playing the Lp's and then uploading directly into the Harddrive without USB connections.
It sounded like the best set up , but when I called Looney Tunes II record shop, they are sold out temporarily and the owner wasn't in so I couldn't get the model number till later or tomorrow. Will post when I know more.

I have pretty much given up on converting vinyl to audio files but my music computer's soundcard (Terratec DMX 6-Fire) has stereo phono inputs as well as mic and line level inputs so I can connect my standard 1983 JVC timetable to it and record straight into the computer, where I can then split the files into individual tracks using WaveLab.
I really must get a new belt and stylus for the turntable.
