Not sure but I would venture to guess that it's one and same. To me it's a clean tone that let's you determine how long the guitar's resonance or sound is sustained. I guess also, that resonance can be interpreted as a particular coloration or sound a wood make's. Maple to alder for instance would give you a different resonance to each other.

A way to determine how much resonance your guitar has, is to unplug it and stand it upright on the floor, strum through the open strings and place your middle finger of your fretting hand on the very tip of the headstock. Don't touch the guitar anywhere else, you will feel how much resonance is travelling up through the neck.
Strum through the strings and place a finger on the jack socket to see how much resonance is passing through the body. Lift it off the ground for that one.
Try this with all the guitars you have, you may notice a difference. When I am in a guitar shop, I pick out the guitars I'm interested in and test them for resonance this way, before I even plug them in.
With practice you will be surprised at the difference you experience, even with guitars in your own collection.
