I have a 4 X 12 cabinet with 2-Alnico Blues and 1 ea G12M Greenback and G12H 30.

I want to have a selector to provide separately the [2 Blues] or the G12M or the G12H30 or the G12M-G12H30 combination. Aside from wiring 4 separate 1/4" jacks is there a simple circuit I could build or buy to provide several combinations?

If you post your query in one of the amp sections of the forum one of the technical guys like Arjay(Retroverbial)or Martian should be able to help.

The problem this creates is changing the ohm's to match your amp. It is possible using a rotary type of switch, but each combo or speaker would need to be the same ohm value, ie: 2-16 ohm = 8ohm, each single = 8 ohm. but by doing this you would not be able to combine them all. And you may not be able to use the speakers you have because they are probably all the same ohm value

I just got an idea that may work if you have two speaker out inputs on your amp. Wire the cabinet so that one speaker out goes to one pair of speakers and one output goes to the other. Then all you would have to do is either unplug one speaker cable or wire up an on/off switch in each speaker cable. My Vox AD120VTH has a 4-12 stereo cab and each channel out cable operates one pair of speakers in the cab but I can't turn one or the other off but it also has a mono input that combines all 4 speakers.

Your amp will suffer. Either from a momentary increase of impedance if you use a make before break switch. Or a momentary loss of impedance when using a break then make switch.

I'd ditch the idea. It's not going to be good for your output transformer in the long run. Unless you're going to power down the amp, hit the switch, power up the amp. In which case just use a cheapo A/B box.

Thanks for the cautions.

I will move the question to the AMP forum.

And it also depends on the impedance of your speakers? What are they ?

Thanks for your question. they are all 8 ohm. BTW, I've reposted the question in the Modern Amp forum as suggested by GuitSlinger
