Just two guitars that I really, really like and that give me the variety of tones that I prefer. But it took me several guitars to get here. I prefer to keep it simple. I don't like the maintenance either.

I think I just broke the 30 mark with my last Stat. A Highway 1 Fat Strat. No wait... that may be 31 or even 32. I can't keep track anymore.

I have 3 at this time.
Fender (Japanese) MB5 5-string bass, about 1993ish.
Carvin Cobalt 750 Acoustic, about 2005.
Yamaha (Strat Copy) Pacifica 712, about 1992ish.
The Pacifica is now HSH with S being a single space Duncan humbucking, a Seymour Duncan JB at the bridge and the stock Yamaha humbucker now at the neck. The tone control is push/pull and when pulled I get single coil and mixed coil variations.

Although not requested:
Yamaha G-100-112 III Guitar Amp circa 1985
Crate BX-160 JBL equipped bass amp circa 1990's
Crate V33 212 tube amp circa 2008

Just three: a Strat, a Yamaha semi-hollow (with soapbars), and a Yamaha classical (spruce top). Don't particularly feel the urge to upgrade anymore, either - like one of the posters above, I prefer to keep it simple.

There's also a J-Bass in the house, but that belongs to my wife, not me. :)

I find that I really only need 3 electric and one electric acoustic to play all the songs our band plays. I have:

MIM Telecaster in Black and Chrome
MIM Stratocaster in Midnight Wine
Gibson Vintage Mahogany LP Studio in Faded Cherry
Ovation Celebrity Acoustic/Electric in Cherry Red
1973 Takamine F340 Acoustic

I don't care for "knockoff" type guitars. For the classic rock our band plays, these are all I need. For those of you who put down MIMs and praise MIA Fenders, remember, last I heard, Mexico was an "American" country. They are part of the North American continent. Technically, MIM Fenders are "American" made! :D

I have 12, including a black Strat with the lovely maple fretboard, a coral green Tele (very ugly color that's been discontinued-the guitar sounds great though) and a Jazz bass made by our Japanese friends. Does anyone else feel they have GAS (urp, excuse me): Guitar Acquisition Syndrome?

I can also understand the wife thing. When mine met me it was a source of great hilarity to her that I had so many. And yet, her shoes....

Too many to count. My 19 year old daughter says 32-39. Go figure.

Dang 32- 39! You must have a large, dedicated music room. Well done.
(if you need somewhere to store a few . . . :D )
