I'm about to buy some pedals to get more of that hendrix sound. Should I buy either the octavio or the fuzz face, or should I combine both of them?

I'm also kind of confused on what each offers as well.

The octavio is a fuzzed octave up effect. The fuzzface is just a plain fuzz. There's a lot better pedals for the job that either of those two.
Look at the Roger Mayer pedals, you can buy a real Octavia that way. The fuzz's are far better than the dunlop things too.

Fuzzfaces are very hit and miss, depending largely on the reissue number. The 80's through to early 90's ones were terrible, the mid 90's ok'ish. The current dunlop/Hendrix ones bear little relation to the original circuits.

The products that Roger Mayer makes are as close as you can get to the actual ones that Jimi used as Roger modded and built most of Jimi's effects. They are a bit pricey but not near as much as some that are not near as good. You can contact Roger directly,I've contacted him in the past and have gotten prompt and informative replies-he's a great guy. Here's his email address: info@roger-mayer.co.uk
