Thanks guys, a lot of great advice here. I'm going to try and go along to my local music shop tomorrow, as far as I can see they have several strats and tele's within my budget, so I will give them a try if I can. I would love a MIM strat, which is at the top of my budget, but then I would also love to have some cash left over for a cool pedal or something :) We shall see!

All going well tomorrow shall be an NGD for me!

Well I managed to find the right guitar for me today, a MIM standard in candy apple red, with a rosewood board. I took all your advice, and after trying several guitars this is the one that felt right for me :)

I just wanted to thank you guys again for your help, as it was invaluable and I thoroughly appreciate it!
