I have two fender 8" speakers in my Acouticsonic Junior Amp.
Each speak has two wires each a different color.

Can you tell me what color wire is positive + for each speaker.
Thank you.

Hi fruhmenschen,

On each speaker, look closely at the part below the terminals where the wires connect, there is usually a + and - stamped or impressed there.

Maybe someone that has this same amp can check to see, I don't have one, and the schematic doesn't tell the colors of the wires. Typically, fender uses a black for negative and white or red for positive. You could look at the schematic and trace each wire from the circuit board ( six wires, P8 through P13). What color is each wire that you have?

Hi fruhmenschen, if by any chance there is two wires of the same color each going for a different speaker, and the two other wires are of different colors from each other, and again each one going to a different speaker, so three different colors total for the four wires, then the two wires of the same color are the common grounds of each speakers, and the other two other wires of different colors are the positive circuits of each speakers. I hope this can be of any help, but if there is any doubt, do not risk ruining your amp or speakers. Good luck.

Thanks.....I looked at the tweeter connections and black was ground.
What happens when you reverse polarity on the speaker connections?
What happens when you turn on the amp without the speakers attached?
I bought this amp at an auction without testing it first. ugh
When I got it home and ran my guitar into it it made these horrible crackling sounds.
Upon inspection of both 8" speakers I discovered both cones were collapsed.
I decided to gamble and replace the speakers myself which are original Fender OEM speakers and 1 tweeter/horn.
Can anyone diagnose my AMP noises ? I have never had to deal with blown speakers before
and hope the previous owner/s did not screw up the electronics.ugh I currently run my Strat through an Ampeg B15 Tube Amp
circa 1970. Thanks for the help pulling down those schematics and other info.
Here is a link for the guitarists . It is a documentary about Maine guitarist Lenny Breau who died in the late
1980's.

Sorry frumenschen, my electronic skills are not very high. Be patient, someone will surely come with the right answer or try posting your message on the modern amplifiers forum, where there is more readers for that subject. Good luck.

You won't hurt anything by hooking the speaker up reversed, but you want all of the speakers to be the same phasing (polarity), or the sound from each speaker will cancel each other out if the polarity is reversed from each other. It is the same with two amps, each must be the same phasing, or the sound will cancel when used together. If one speaker goes positive, while the other goes negative, the sound will cancel.

A solid state amp can be turned on without a speaker connected with no problems, as there is no output transformer to worry about, so long as the disconnected wires do not touch anything or each other, causing a short circuit. Do not turn on a tube amp without a speaker connected, or damage can occur.

If you reverse the wires you'll get the speakers out of phase. So when the cone should push out, it pulls in and vice versa.
You won't damage speakers, you may be able to hear the difference.
You may get a drop in volume, if you use one speaker in phase and one out of phase. It won't hurt the amp, I used to do it regularly on a old transistor amp I had as a kid.
