I checked out some more of that Jimmy Burns that I had posted back on August 15th. Good stuff, I think. 8)

Some cool tracks. 8) I haven't listened to any blues, recently, other than the Music Choice channel on DirecTV, when I go to bed, otherwise I'd have something to post here, as well. Maybe I'll find something in the next couple of days.

Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith two admirable power Divas. Both had run into this lady (reported to be the first black on radio and the first black singer on TV, amongst many other firsts). Bessie was Ethel’s fierce rival, and Miss Holiday admired Ethel, but, she got an unfortunate lesson into not using Ethel’s song “Underneath The Harlem Moon” while on stage when it was claimed to belong to Ms. Waters who, earlier in 1928 made $1,250 a week! That kind of payment was unheard of.

The song that began the argument:

Before Billie Holiday:

Ethel’s claim to fame:

I’m very proud to say that in the late 60s I worked alongside Ms. Waters, where, doing an interview, she suddenly burst into a song, and I got a hug to boot. Later that day I learned my father, born in 1922, was a fan. :D

The following is long interesting and fun read, especially for vinyl collectors and music history enthusiasts. “Stormy Weather” has come a long way for the interested. I’ve been aware for decades about this record, and I keep an eye out; but it’s unlikely, yet not impossible, that it reached this side of the border. Maybe, you or your neighbour has a gold mine. FYI.

Some cool tracks you all posted. 8) I've been listening to the blues on one of the DirecTV music stations, when I go to bed, but I haven't listened to anything that I'd be able to post here in awhile.

Gary Clark Jr. on KEXP. I've read about this guy, and know he has his own Epiphone signature guitar, but this is the first time I've gotten around to checking him out. I'll definitely try to listen to more of his stuff. 8)
