My band is going to the studio tomorrow to rerecord that song that didn't sound right for our iTunes release which is coming next month. In addition to guitar I'm trying my hand at recording keys as well. So we'll see how it turns out. I've got to go to bed since I have to meet my band at 8:30 tomorrow morning, but I'll post details after the session. :)

Well, day one is finished. :D Unfortunately it wasn't communicated clear enough that we were redoing the entire song. They thought we had just come to redo the guitar solo and they only allowed a couple of hours for that. So things were crazy when we first arrived since they didn't know the whole band was coming. The main engineer/producer had to leave after those first couple of hours but the assistant engineer stayed and helped us out tremendously.

The whole reason we're redoing it is because we had a lot of issues with the other version including but not limited to tempo and intonation. We were even playing a wrong note repeatedly and no one caught it until my guitar teacher did a couple of days ago. Tempo was still an issue because there are a lot of weird time signature and intentional tempo changes. But we created a special click track all the way through and played along to it. It took about four to five hours just to figure out the click track and record enough good drum/bass takes to piece together the full song which still sounded solid. But get this, since we were unsatisfied with the way it turned out the first time we're doing this recording at no charge! They're some really nice people.

I ended up recording keys through the whole song. It's really just the chord to fill it up, it'll be pretty far back in the mix. But that part is done, and so is the violin part. All that's left if rhythm guitar, lead guitar and vocals. The engineer burned me a CD of the song in it's current state so that over the next few days I can play along with it and really get comfortable with it and figure what exactly I want to do. I didn't want to rush into recording it today since I'm not 100% on what I want to do yet. So we'll be back after Christmas to finish it up, and hopefully I'll get to be there for mixing as well. :D

It's refreshing to see young talent with as much as enthusiasm and professional dedication as you have TGS. Good Luck With the rest of the recording and I hope that you and your family have a great Christmas.
