My freezer keeps icing over, and the ice covers the vents in the back, then the bottom fridge section stays warm. Anyone know what might be causing this?

your freon could be under charged, OR, the coils might need to be cleaned off.
most likely he coil is dirty.

When you say coil, are you talking about the copper tube coming out of the wall, or is it inside the back panel or underneath the fridge? you'll have to excuse me, I know nothing about refrigerators.

EDIT: Ok it looks like it's underneath. Thanks a lot for the tip. I'll clean them up and see how it goes. 8)

bingo.
the coil gets very dusty and needs a good cleaning every yr or two. a dirty coil causes a frige to work extra hard, a puts a dent in the power bill too. clean that sucker off with a good brushing and a vac. you should notice a difference in just a few hours.

There is a timer in the fridge that every once in a while will heat up a small element in the freezer to melt the extra ice (de-icer circuit). Either the timer or the element are damaged. Most likely the timer is the culprit. It is a small box, the size of a deck of cards somewhere at the bottom and behind the fridge. Be careful with live electric current. Good luck.
Claude.

Thanks Claude. I'll take a look at that as well. See, this forum rules. It's not always about guitars around here. Thank you both for your help.

Some refrigerators have a "Humidity" setting. With the weird weather going around you might wanna check that too.

This thread is amazing. Sometime next year, someone will google "refrigerator repars" and be directed to the Fender guitars forum thread. :D

Claude has it right...there is a timer that probably broke that controls the de-frosting mode of the freezer. When it's working you may hear the occasional dripping of water into the drip pan.

HAHAHA!! You know, I didn't think about that. But you're probably right!

I would have Googled it myself, but I think I've mentioned before that I have a virus that won't let me do Google searches without being re-directed. You think I'm bad at Refrigerators? I'm even worse with computers. I still haven't fixed my virus problem.

Thanks again for all of your help guys. The last few posts had me laughing pretty good too. I think in this case, I'll take the Hum over the usual popping noise my fridge randomly makes. Good thing that noise never made it through my Strat.
