Hi all im new to guitar and i have bought a Fender Squire Strat and a fender 15G frontman amp which came in this great starter pack

http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Guitars/El ... p2215.aspx

Now that you know what amp and guitar i have please read on to find out my problem

im stuck, i can dial in a metal sound a blues sound but i fail at getting a rock sound just like in these videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntr-RBGTeDY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DalFjT9pYmc

They are both "american woman" tutorials so please watch just the opening bit to know what sound i would like to get or at least the closest i can get to.
I want stuff like amp settings for it on my amp and what pickups to use and any other details that may help.
your help is very much appreciated cause i've been trying to get this right for 2 days now
ok thanks all bye

EDIT: Umm by the way i see a few good people viewing my article which is a spark of hope for m really !! :D :) BUT PLEASE I DONT WANT ANY1 saying "oh just mess with the knobs and dials to get the right tune" Cos dat's wat i did and failed so please figures like
OVERRIDE CHANNEL ON/OFF
GAIN:
TREBLE:
MIDDLE:
BASS:
USE...... PICKUP *WHICH PICKUP TO USE
and any other things that may help cheers :)

This might help.

I find the frontman to work best with the drive channel and the following:
Gain; 2.5 to 3 and maybe 4 depending on your pickups.
Drive Volume; 2-3 or however loud you choose
Trebble; 3 or 4
Mid; 0
Bass; 9

Use your neck pickup for when you play at low volumes, it'll fatten up the sound. If you crank it loud you can use any pickup and or combination of pickups it will not make that much of a difference in sound.

Good luck, but part of learning to play the electric guitar is learning to tweek the amp to get the sound you desire. by doing so you can create a sound to suit your needs. Find what works best for you. HTH
