i have a friend that has almost the same strat as i do both the neck and middle pickup are the same, they a both MIM, only like three years apart in age,and his has a maple neck and mine has a rosewood neck and disregarding the bridge pickup, through the same amp his guitar is snappier, and thinner in every position.

just my 2 lincolns

p.s. the neck pickup in both is a duncan hotrail and the middle is a stock single coil

I've only felt the difference. Never heard it.
I like them both and have both.
Though thru GuitarBuilder I made my dream strat with ebony...

Yeah our Elvis was very Vegas styled. Medallion, sunglasses and slicked back hair.
Looking back, I think it was the most fun band I've been in. Though I didn't appreciate it at the time. The folly of youth eh?

I'll answer the question from the OP.

Yep. He's full of excrement.

Guitslinger,

I don't know if tone can be distinguished between the two fingerboards. Perhaps one must consider a Fender strat by the accentuated properties of a specific neck shape and wood material, as well as all the other components (i.e., string type, body material and finish, pickups, etc...) of a strat that bears a specific sound/tone.

Again, one must consider the Gestalt of the end product.

Hi TTSC that's the point I was trying to make with the guy on the Fender FB forum. There are too many other dynamics involved to put the tonal difference down to just one element. It would be the same as saying that red Strats sustain longer than sunburst Strats,it just can't be backed up.

"Red" strats do sustain longer than "Sunburst".
One "Solid" color vs 3 separate colors...makes all the difference.
I thought everybody knew that!

Red strats with thin nitro finish vs the Burst with heavy poly finish?
