I came accross a Fender Pro 185 combo amp with the 13 red knobs and 2 channels and I'm falling in love with this thing! I've been trying to do some research on the internet about what year it was made and so far I've read that the 'red knob' pro 185s were from the late 80s and the 'black knob' is from early 90s
Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? I had never even seen this amp in my life and could not pass it up at the price I got it for. I was saving for a bass amp to play shows with, but surprisingly the bass tone on this thing is warm and toasty with my Fender jazz bass (also sounds amazing connected thru a ts808 tube screamer) It's great for small venues! It may weigh about 100 pounds but a little back ache is well worth it.

Does anyone else on here have one of these amps? Know any secrets or history to them?

yes the amp should be 80's. i dont think that trend bled over into the 90's.
the princeton and the twin were killer in those days too. the gain was amazing.
