This came out a while ago, but I still disagree with it. Cobain at #12 is ridiculous! Not to mention Ramone at #16 and Van Halen all the way down at #70.

Jimmy Page at #9 is too high?? Not in my opinion. BB King at # 3 is the one I have a problem with. This list is just some reporters opinion. Like they say some stink worse than others.

BB king is good but way over blown in my opinion.
freddie king spanks his azz in my opinion.
yes JP is the most over rated player ever in my
opinion. Zep was also way overrated too.

There are just so many issues with this list.

-Cobain shouldn't even be on the list.
-Chuck Berry shouldn't be rated that high all he did was rip off T-Bone Walker
-Robert Johnson at #5? Son House taught him everything and Skip James was a better player
- Kirk Hammet rated higher than Jeff Beck? COme on!
-Jack White at #17? Another guy who shouldnt even be on the list
-Johnny Ramone at #16, please.
-Tom Morello and Fruiscante in the top 30? nah
- Buddy Guy at #30, more like top 15 if not top 10
- T Bone Walker, Otis Rush and Lonnie Johnson nowhere to be found on the list pretty much negates its validity immediately.

This list is a joke.

When looking at who are considered the top players, this list is heavily weighted towards blues players. Not that there is anything wrong with that but when Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen are near the bottom of the list there is something wrong with it. You don't need to be a fan of either but nobody can argue that both these players, in particular EVH but only because Rhoads is gone, were very innovative in their day and have influenced millions of players.

you think the only reason EVH is/was so popular is because
rhoads died?

I wouldnt put Rhoads higher than 50 on the list, EVH should be in the top 25 for sure though.

guys come on, eddie set the pace for 80's guitar players.
he revamped old ideas and turned them into a whole new way of playing even.
he took charvel, kramer, and redesigned the floyd and took them to new heights.
hard rock and metal players cant thank eddie enough.

these lists are very hard to do.
you cant actually lump them all together in one box.
there should be like rock, blues, jazz, country, metal.

That is the top 200 list. Rolling Stone just assumes everybody knows Nevin holds the top 100 spots.

This list pops up from time to time on every forum and gives people the chance to bash Cobain and the magazine... nothing new here...

Nope, EVH was well established before Rhoads was discovered by Ozzy.
