Here are a few pics of the inside of the valve junior with the mods installed. I wish I took before pics, but you should get the idea from these.

In the first pic, the red circle is the new reverb pot, the green circle is the 3 way voicing switch, and the blue circle is the tone pot, with push/pull fat boost.

The yellow circles are areas where you had to solder to components on the circuit board.

In this pic the new reverb unit is shown it the the black rectangular object next to the circuit board and some of the connections are shown as well.

Here are a few closeups of the mods

Wow!!!
this thread is great
Great pics and info

Rock on

My first mod was going to be to a boss ds-1, to get my feet wet
If I can do that without messing the whole thing up, I may try this mod

This topic is very helpful. Thanks. The date on your pictures says 2004?

Not sure what you mean, I don't see any date stamp on the pictures. I just took them yesterday.

Gotcha, the date must have reset when I last changed the batteries!

Hi Kong, Interesting. One thing and don't take this the wrong way, but first I would insulate the long cap and resistor leads to prevent shorts and I would reflow all the solder joints on the mods. Solder joints shouldn't have big globs of solder on them. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to help not piss in your Corn Flakes. I hate to see you get knocked on yer arse or worse. If you look at Snowy's amp build post, that's exactly what solder joints should look like.

63Supro, no offense taken, I will definitely look at Snowy's post. I don't have that fine control with the soldering gun as of yet. I was just relieved that everything worked  . I'm grateful for the helpful suggestions, that is what is so great about this place. I'm definitely no expert in this area, and don't want this post to be taken as instruction especially on solder joints. Never would have thought of insulating the cap and resistor leads, that is a good suggestion there as well.

Soldering just takes some practice. Getting it to work first shot is great. Good soldering will make your mods a lot more reliable. Those Epi's are fun little amps. I might pick up a VHT Special 6. It's cheap, and hand wired. They supply a schematic and it's real easy to mod because the components are on a turret board not a PCB. Lunchbox amps are great to play around with. Have fun and be safe. :D
