I just heard on the news that there's a new video on Youtube that's gone viral-It has an obviously very wrecked Miley Cyrus smoking salvia, of course the derision this has caused will vindicate all the Miley haters that knew that the spoiled brat would eventually end up doing something stupid like that.I can't wait for them to find Justa Beaver in a hotel room with a dead hooker in one arm and a smack needle in the other.

Smoking salvia in and of itself isn't a bad thing, its not as bad for you as alcohol, and it isn't illegal. If you're in the public eye, however, its a stupid thing to let a video of yourself doing it get out.Anything that contributes to Miley Cyrus' demise is fine by me though.

Having seen the video I'm pretty certain it's not salvia and most likely weed, obviously they don't want her to be seen doing something illegal so of course salvia makes sense.

From a personal standpoint though I find it extremely hypocritical of so many people when they slate famous people for not being the perfect role model for the world. She's an 18 year old girl, sure she probably shouldn't have done it but she was in a private area and didn't expect something like this to get out. For me the notion that these people should be expected to behave like angels at all times, even in private is an unrealistic expectation. Hell if the average person got the media attention of some of these people the media would have a field day with them.

Where Miley's fan base is largely pre and early teens and where they are at such an impressionable age,as a role model she does have a moral duty to try and keep her nose clean. She should realize that millions of impressionable teens put her on a pedestal and try to pattern themselves after her as evidenced by the huge sale of anything that's Brand Miley. I know that she didn't ask for fame(maybe she did though through her influencial father)but as I said she has a moral duty to be a positive role model for those who try to emulate her.

I know I'm a geezer, but what the frig is salvia? At first glance I thought it was saliva. I'm thinking how in the world do you smoke spit? LOL All I know is I'm glad I don't have a young daughter and her as a role model. What you sow you reap.

Salvia or Salvia Divinorum is a plant which contains a mild hallucinogen.

The concentrated extracts Salvinorin A and Salvinorin B however are more potent.

Not something kids should be doing.

I have seen the video. It is hard to say if she really did hit Salvia or weed.... she seems pretty wasted, but it could be the teen girl "Im sooooo wasted" thing too....

I was young once.

I was young once too. Thank god they didn't have anything but 8mm film or I'd be pretty embarrassed. But then again I wasn't a big time entertainer/role model for little pre teen girls. I wasn't even a good role model for my younger brother. LOL

Gee... somone who is enjoying themselves and at the same time not harming/affecting another person and not putting others in danger... and we are criticizing them...

And really why do we care... I get so tired of how our society looks upon drug use .... Gee, somone has a drug problem... Lets just throw them in jail so not only do we ruin their life but at the same time make us pay ridiculous amounts of tax to keep them there...

And then there is the hypocitical view with alcohol.. don't get me started...

Think before being critical...

Dang, Nevin...you're still young. I have boots older than you, kid, and I'm only forty!

Regardless of what she was smoking, this just goes to show that we should never put somebody too high on a pedestal, because their eventual stumble and/or fall will hurt everybody that much more.

She's an 18-year-old kid, and making some of the same stupid mistakes as a million other people her age (and older) have made or are making.

When I was her age, I was making sure that Miller Brewing Company wouldn't go out of business (I never smoked anything--weed, tobacco or otherwise--but I certainly partook of all the beer, tequila and vodka I could find. Sometimes rum...and wine...and gin...and, well, everything except whiskey--I just didn't like that stuff). I quit drinking at 28 and saved my marriage and my liver from further harm.

I don't like her music or show or image or father, but I hope she pulls past this stage of her life before she ends up a trainwreck like Britney or Amy Winehouse...that's just sad.

The big difference is we were not role models or in the public eye. Unless you count public drunkenness. She really needs to choose her friends a little more carefully unless she wants to see "The Man" at her door with a search warrant. What kind of tool puts something like that on Youtube anyway?

The point that's being missed is that all these little 6-14 year old girls dress like her, and try to sing and act like her. Would you want your daughter acting like that and be all over the internet? Think about your daughter regardless of her age showing up on the net with her crotch out or in some other kind of compromising position.

What grinds with me to a large extent is the media shouting about stories like this with their high horse of " oh isn't she being a terrible example to all the kids".

Well sure maybe these smacked up stars are being a terrible example, but if it wasn't for you money grabbing clowns wanting to milk every celebrity for everything you can to sell papers then the kids wouldn't see anything to copy.

The fact is nobody makes them take these high profile jobs. When you do there is usually some sort of social responsibility that goes with it. You should either accept it or be a little more discreet about what you do privately.

having smoked the stuff i beg to differ. and reading about people's experiences online, and from my own experience, i can tell you salvia is some scary s***. i would say that whatever causes your brain to think a garage door or your own reflection is attacking you is a bad thing. both happened to me, and i tried the stuff once.

as for it being legal, so is "spice", and that stuff put me in the e.r.. beware of these "new" and "legal" drugs. they most likely have harmful unknown side effects.

i just searched for the video and i can't believe there's already an auto-tune remix.

The difference being "Spice" is a synthetic mix of substances and chemicals, essentially a designer drugs, wheras salvia is a plant that has been used by the indigenous population for countless centuries.

Not the same thing at all.

+1 on it being scary s***.... i was a t a party and my friend smoked a damn good amount and started freaking out... he was fine, but still....

also, having tried weed myself i can tell you no celebrity influenced me to do it... it was my choice, not some azz clown i saw on the picture box.... did i like because "they" do? meh.... not crazy about the stuff, not about to go spending money on it regularly etc....
do i give a damn if "they" like it or not? hell to the nah
