im using my OCD, carbon copy, and a compressor.

No first, seriously.

It's there to even out the volume raises and dips from your guitar. I even use one before wah, about the only pedal I will put before a wah.

I don't really see the point of using it with a overdrive unless your after a cascading gain sound, and then theres better ways of doing it than using a compressor. They make terrible booster pedals.
They both do the same thing, but the overdrive has clipping too.

Doesn't matter the compressor is already seeing a compressed signal.

Compressors make really bad boosts. Nobody could describe why better than Slapchop's excellent explanaition of how they work.
Search for that that in this very forum.

By the way: if you read through that 24 carat thread you will notice SlapChop responding to questions from someone called BigJay. However, perplexingly you won't see BigJay's posts themselves and you may be scratching your head as to what's going on.

That is because former Forum user BigJay suddenly decided not only to leave but to have Brad wipe his interesting and useful contributions from the entire website: something we didn't previously know could be done. So the only trace remaining of him is the bits where others, such as SlapChop, have quoted his posts.

Sad.

And then SlapChop himself also left, for different reasons. For those as don't know, SlapChop is the owner of a recording studio and has huge experience in the business. His information is good and reliable.

We've lost some good people round here.

Cheers - C

I'm sure you have a folder in your bookmarks with all these little titbits organized and clearly labeled.

Well more power to the organizing. It did in seconds what I didn't want to do.

Nope. I finally (finally!!! )worked out how to get what I need from that ricketty search feature on this forum...

Then I learnt how to stop it highlighting the words you searched for in green. So folks wouldn't be able to tell how my mind was working - cos that might not be very flattering to my intelligence...

Cheers - C

PS: I notice the sensoring software hasn't taken out "titbits" from your post. Interesting - you can't usually type those first three letters here and get away with it. But then, out of puritanical bashfulness Americans don't say titbit. Somewhere in history they changed their word to "tidbit", to spare the tender feelings of their sainted aunts. Aaaaahhh...

For that matter, for the same reason they go to the "bathroom" when it is not a bath they wish to take and when the room in question may not even contain a bathtub. So plain speaking on some things: so coy on others. Charming. :D

Cheers - C

Thats natural amp compression on that vid. Sounds like a amp pushed into compression before it gets into drive.

Hey, we call it a "washroom" north of US border. You wash in the room after taking a "core dump" (IT lingo)
