The only time you can even see it to look cool is if you're playing with you teeth or behind your head. Maybe is saves on some weight LOL.

I remove the back plate but leave the screws in because if you leave the screws out you loose too much of your tone and get no sustain.

if you leave 1 screw out you will scoop the mids automaticly on your pups.

If you mean that stupid plastic cover on the pickguard, then yes I do remove it.
