MTV glamour boys add just about every other 2 bit wannabe band to that including and since Rancid.

None of the newer "Punk" bands are not truly Punk IMO.
Some of the newer guys are just "posers" and just pop bands.
I'm not a giant Punk fan but I do get a kick out of some. I like a pretty wide range of music.

Here's a few of my favorites

The Ramones
The Sex Pistols
Dead Kennedys
Iggy Pop and the Stooges

Not really, Greenday is a Pop band. Nothing wrong with getting flamed bill948, I'll go one further and say they're about as punk as "The Monkees". LOL

Mainstream pop punk. So no. That is like the opposite of punk. Punk is a self defeating genre, Once you hit it big and you become mainstream how can you identify with punk culture anymore?

I heard a song on Sirius the other night that sounded quite nice and laid back and the singer's voice was very good, when I looked at the print out on the radio it said Green Day although I didn't remember the song's title I was quite surprised that it was in fact Green Day as I had never been overly fond of them.
