I got an email today from Fender advertising the new American standard strat, so I bopped on over here to give it a look.

Modern two-point bridge with vintage saddles? Not sure what that was all about. But why does these modern american strats come with metric string spacing???

:? ....hmmmmm

Imho, it looks so much better now that they've got the classic saddles on their. Looks almost vintage - not that closed up "modern" look that's not my preference. Looks very good now. I'm going to get there by replacing the zinc bridge saddles in my Highway One with these new bridge saddles as an upgrade (my six-point floating bridge works well so that's all I'll need to change). Also, they put a big steel block in the bridge similar to my Highway One but with a different alloy and brass, which sounds good. My Highway One has tons of sustain probably due to a lot of design touches including the big head stock and the steel plate, and now the American's got much of that and some other choices also. My guess is it plays very well.

The saddles do make the two-point look a little better. But I would still rather have the six-point vintage.

I just find it odd that an american made guitar is using metric spacing, makes me think their having the bridge made somewhere else besides USA.
