Similar experience to Clem's.

I had a Marshall 8280 and 8200 head in the 90's. Both stereo amps with built in chorus.

It's about the only chorus I've ever been happy with. True stereo, I suppose you'd get the same effect by running a stereo pedal into 2 amps, and a whole load of tonal variation too. You'll never get that real chorus'd sound out of a pedal into a single amp though.

Almost any decent chorus should beat the stock "stuff" that is on the amp. Go to Guitar Center and test some out.

+1 Those built in chorus effects on a lot of amp are painful. Fender has never been a great effect company except for maybe the Fender Bender and the Fuzz Wah the built in stuff is terrible. My GDec has tons of built in lousy effects.

Come on now Supro...you can tweak those built in effects....LOL I am a plain old reverb guy so I don't have to worry about that..:)
ABS :D

Yeah I know, I tweak them alright, I turn all them off LOL. GDec effects just plain suck. I just use the accompaniment with different timings and key changes to keep my hands in shape. Sad thing is even the bozillion reverb effects are riddled with noise and digital artifacts. I'm thinking about dumping that to for a VHT Special 6 and and just use backing tracks. Those built in effects are made for 12 year old metal heads.

They need to have a GDec IV and call it "The Geezer" I'm the same way as you only without the reverb.

I had a Ibanez SC9 years ago. From what I understand it was analoge. It was noisy and sounded more like a flange. The MXR Stereo Chorus is much better and more tweekable, you can go with a little or a lot. But like most all chours pedals you got to try them out to see what fits the bill. The Cool Cat colors the sound much more than these.
