It's not really a Christmas song, but I associate it with Christmas:

My favourite "recent" Christmas song is John Lennon's Happy Christmas (The War Is Over) but couldn't listen to it for years as it was too painful to listen to after his death.I love the classic video of Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing The Little Drummer Boy.My all time favourite Christmas song is the Coventry Carol-the olde English Carol from the 16th Century. John Denver did a great cover of this carol on his Christmas Special and on his best selling Christmas Album Rocky Mountain Christmas.

+1

I especially can't stand anything that has the ching-ching-ching jinglebells in the background...it's like an icepick through my brain and privates at the same time. :(

Although, I do laugh my butt off at "Santa and His Old Lady" every time I hear it...and I've never even smoked dope!

Count me in with those who can't stand Christmas music. :?

However, I love Jethro Tull's "Another Christmas Song" from the Rock Island album. It always brings a lump to my throat. 8)

The Pogues' Christmas in New York is another great one.

Well, you'd never be able to stand what I've been doing the past few hours then...reheasing all Christmas songs for a big Christmas party gig tomorrow for "Kids with Cancer".

I'd guess we have about 27-30 tunes we just ran over and now I need to practice my parts so the kid's will be smiling tomorrow.

That's funny! Way back when I played in a folk group, one of the guys was a very talented violinist. We would stop playing our guitars, banjos etc. and introduce him as doing a "serious" piece. The audience would hush as Alec set up his music stand, then began the most beautiful, soulful violin music, (can't remember what it was). He would play flawlessly for a couple of minutes, then hit one note ever so slightly off. We would watch the audience to see who could tell. As he progressed, he would slowly get worse and worse, and the audience would get more and more uncomfortable. By the end, it was a total hack job and the audience would finally realize they had been tricked!

Seemed funny at the time!

Alright, no more thread jacking.
