what's the opinion of Lace PUPs here. I have them in my strat with a Lace Transensor in the bridge. Now i'm thinking about changing up the setup and getting a Single Coil HB (probably a hotrail) for the bridge and moving the Transensor to the Neck PUP position.

I've never used Lace pickups, but mixing a Lace in the bridge with a regular pickup in the neck position is a pretty popular combo.

I think they're great! :D

I've got a set of Hot Golds with the 13.2k bridge, and two sets of Lace Sensors (Red, Silver, Blue) one set has a Red Dually (its a beast!).

Great build quality, clever design and very versatile pups overall. I've not tried the Transensor's though.

I have read a few reviews here over the years on Lace pickups and they have all been good from what I recall. As always though with p/u's it's always a matter of personal taste.

just thought i'd amend that incase any prospective modders misread it mistakenly. this setup should work fine in strat/5-way type guitars, but do not place them in adjacent spots (i.e. lace sensor in bridge, regular single coil in middle). Lace's are not compatible with other single coil's, i know this first hand. i'm not sure how they interact with HB's or stacked HB's though.

my mom got me 2 lace gold regulars for christmas (why it wasnt a full 3 pup set, i cant fathom. probably didnt want to pay for the 3rd pup, who knows. haha its rather odd, but anyway...i installed them and had a stock single (squier btw, more on that in a minuite) left over in the bridge (or neck, i forget). well, the notch position between the 2 diff. pup's was dead to say the least. the other sounded great though.
i'd be willing to bet that the squier pups are overwound to the nth degree in their SE-100 series (which is what i have). i always kinda felt they had a bit of a mid hump going on. the lace golds are significantly lower output than they were. maybe that was the cause of my issue, dont know for sure. i think ive heard that its tough to marry single's and HB's.

I quickly got myself a lace hot gold for the third slot. sounds awesome in the neck. all pup's and positions work great, so they all work.

before i got it though, i tried a cool little trick. i re-wired the pup switch and re-oriented the pup's so that one of the notch positions would turn on both bridge and neck (w/ lace golds). cool sound for a strat. same setup as those mini-sized carlo robelli strats. they have 7-way switches out there i think, which would allow this in addition to normal notches.

anyway, love these lace golds. good choice. hot gold is even better, i wish knew more about them before getting regular golds, however i wouldnt knock the regulars. they have slightly less mids than the hot's, which counts for some applications. i think having a regular gold in the middle is a good call, i have that in my strat now and i've been using it very often. great sound. middle doesnt need any more mids in the pup (no pun intended). the bridge might benefit more by a hot gold. btw, i use the 6k hot in my neck, not the 13.2k. regular is about 5.6 i think.
i didnt want to alter the traditional strat character so i went all gold. they are the most neutral and versatile. going for those other specialized-voiced colors can get you in trouble some day, imo. i do hear good things about silver and burgundy though. light blue might be interesting in the bridge, but this is where i say "nice place to visit, but i wouldnt live there".
