yep niki thats about the same price here $50. i might get it but would really rather buy one speaker and settle with that.
might look into a greenback as well.
thank you everybody for pitching in on this thread. i need the education.
still wish they would make a tech section on this forum. would really help organize things a lot better.

You're far better off buying used speakers that are in good condition. Particularly in your situation where volume is a concern. Reason being, you don't have to break em in.

Radio Shack ( here in the US ) would have a 1/4" mono plug. And/or a decent guitar shop.

Just tell them what you need and they should be able to set you up.

Yeah Niki...That certainly makes perfect sense. The sad thing is that by trade I am an automotive electrician installing sound systems and entertainment systems and all the times I've changed speakers in a guitar amp I've always put a 30 watt speaker for a 30 watt amp. The difference between RMS (what and amp pushes continuously) and peak power (what an amp is capable of) is always the first thing I explain to someone when they are choosing speaker/amp combos for their vehicle. I for some reason never applied that same thinking to my guitar amps.
That being said I haven't had many issues with speakers clipping or being overpowered, but I'm usually not in a situation where I'm playing at very high volumes, which of course is when the amp is pushing it's full power. Good little tidbit of info to keep in mind for changing out amp speakers.

Or you could just use a speaker rated at about the peak power of the amp Tim, and have a whole world of magic open up to you. It really does make a wonderfull difference to the amps sound when you're about to kill the speaker.
Worthwhile improvment but gets expensive and does your hearing no favours at all.

HAHAHA what perfect timing. Fender have just moved into car audio with Volkswagon.

Get one of them in. I wonder if their releasing a valve version? I've just had to restore a old Mopar valve car radio from a 40's Plymouth for my old bands drummer. Can't wait to hear it.
